INTRODUCTION/GENERAL COMMENTS/PERSONALS GOALS FOR INVOLVEMENT IN COLLABORATIVE FAMILY LAW CASES:
“That’s the difference between us. You think were fighting and I think we’re finally talking!”
Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr. in Jerry Maguire)
This quote captures what is so often true; communication can be confusing, and much can be lost in perception and interpretation. This is never truer than in times of stress, and researchers continue to name divorce as one of the most stressful life events one can experience. As a psychotherapist, I have worked with numerous couples and families to navigate through the complicated process of divorce, parenting plans, and division of property. As a family coach with the collaborative law team, I will work to help reduce the stress in all areas of the divorce by facilitating open communication and supporting all parties through a process that is cohesive, respectful, and productive.
