After 30 years of practice as a family law litigator, I decided that my clients and their children would be served better by restructuring their families through a non-adversarial approach, such as Collaborative Practice/Divorce, Mediation, Early Neutral Evaluation or Arbitration. Consequently, in 2000 I decided to terminate my involvement as an attorney for any party to a litigated family dispute. Since then, my experience with Collaborative Practice/Divorce and Early Neutral Evaluation has been very positive, enjoyable and professionally satisfying. Collaborative Practice/Divorce or Early Neutral Evaluation provides the clients with the opportunity to terminate their marriage and restructure their family finances and parenting responsibilities in a much more dignified and efficient manner, with significantly less expense and emotional upheaval, compared to a traditional litigated result. I am a strong advocate for the collaborative family law process. I believe in the process and am pleased that many that have been through it have afterward referred to it as “divorce with dignity.”  When someone is faced with the difficult decision of terminating a marriage and restructuring a family, the process should not foster or create further emotional and financial stress. Working hand in hand with my fellow collaborative lawyers and other professionals, I am convinced that there is a better way than protracted contested litigation. For additional information about collaborative family law or learn more about my credentials, feel free to contact me through this web site or my website www.BHMlaw.com.

From its inception, I consistently have been a strong proponent of collaborative family law, contributing professionally in whatever way I can to promote collaborative law and the growth of our local collaborative practice organization.  All of my efforts to further the development of collaborative family law in Central Ohio, have been for a singular purpose.  This purpose is to give you, the consumers of legal services, a viable alternative and, yes, I believe a better process, to terminate your marriage than the process that you would have were you in a contested divorce action before a court.  Collaborative law may not work for everyone, but it can and does work for the vast majority of people.   I invite you to see my credentials and further information in the List of Member Attorneys at this web site and also at my web site www.sponsellerlaw.com

I am highly committed to working with clients and the other professionals in the Collaborative Law process as a joint financial professional.  The reason I am involved with Collaborative Law is because I believe this process better serves the family unit.  The Collaborative approach works because family goals are respected, because both parties are informed of the facts, and because both parties are working towards finding possible solutions regarding their respective financial futures.  But it doesn’t end there.  All the members of the professional team are committed to finding solutions that meet the needs of the family.  Information on my professional credentials can be found on the Meet Other Collaborative Professionals page or by visiting our website at www.armcpa.com.

Collaborative divorce is a powerful process. I have been involved in collaborative family law essentially since its inception in this vicinity, and I have seen it work positively for families time and time again.  I am an Ohio State Bar Association Certified Family Law Specialist.  Family law is what I do and I have extensive contested divorce litigation experience.  I have contributed much time to the development of collaborative law, through past service on the CDP Board of Trustees as past president and in other leadership positions; through articles and presentations to colleagues, law students, and the public; and through committee work to promote collaborative law legislation in this State.  For further information regarding my credentials, please see my bio on this website (list of member attorneys) and my website, elainebucklaw.com.

I believe that collaborative divorce is often highly successful for the following reasons.  It is a transparent process which permits the parties to be directly involved and directly informed of the issues that must be resolved, with their attorneys present and with help of neutral experts as necessary.  Instead of leaving their life decisions to a judge who does not know them, the clients with assistance from experienced family lawyers help shape the outcome of the divorce process and thus of their lives after divorce.  Because the parties understand and participate in the decision-making, the outcomes reflect the goals and priorities of the parties and tend to be more enduring and more creative.  And in the final analysis, this is “a win” for the parties.
