It is my personal and professional goal to guide a client through a termination of his or her marriage with as much understanding and financial efficiency as possible. In many cases, the collaborative process allows me to achieve those goals, and it also allows me to be part of a team of professionals who are committed to creating an environment where the unique interests of the husband and the wife can be acknowledged and recognized with respect and care.

Areas of Practice: All areas of family law, including dissolution, divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, matrimonial law, legal separation, antenuptial agreements, and adoption. I practice in these areas using the following processes, depending on the circumstances of each client's case: collaborative practice, mediation, principled negotiation and litigation.

Professional Licenses:
Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio, November 1992.

Professional Education:
Capital University Law School, Juris Doctorate, Order of the Curia, May 1992.

Undergraduate Education: Bachelor of Arts, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Collaborative Practice Group Membership:
Central Ohio Academy of Collaborative Divorce Professionals; International Academy of Collaborative Professionals

Professional Experience/Activities:

I have pursued advanced training in collaborative law, mediation, divorce and custody. I am a highly trained and experienced mediator, especially in the areas of families, divorce and custody. I have also been extensively trained in mental health related topics and served as a crisis volunteer for a number of years, helping people deal with substance abuse and addiction, rape, suicide, child sexual abuse, and other personal crises.

In 2009 I was appointed to the Fellows Class of the Ohio State Bar Foundation. Membership in the foundation is extended only to lawyers whose careers have demonstrated their dedication to the highest ideals of the legal profession and the welfare of their community.

My other professional memberships include the Ohio State Bar Association and its Family Law Committee, the Columbus Bar Association and its Family Law Committee, Central Ohio Academy of Collaborative Divorce Professionals, Inc. (serving in different capacities on the Board of Directors, including past-President), Ohio Mediation Association and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. For several years I was on the adjunct faculty of Columbus State Community College. I have also been a speaker for the local and state bar on collaborative law and alternative dispute resolution techniques in child custody and divorce, as well as on other substantive areas of family law.

Personal Interests and Activities: I have three teenagers who are very active in sports, so my free time is often spent at soccer games and swim meets. When I do have free time, I enjoy spending it with my children and my two dogs, exercising, playing golf, watching sports (football, basketball, golf), reading and participating in various community and charitable events. I volunteer when I can. For example, I have been a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run, I have spoken on the topic of International Adoption, and I have volunteered at my children's schools.
